2017 Nissan Altima vs 2017 Ford Fusion

Looking for a great sedan, but not sure which one is right for you. Let us take care of the research for you as we compare two of the top four-door sedans, namely the 2017 Nissan Altima vs 2017 Ford Fusion.

Looking at the two models side-by-side, it’s clear that some different decision were made on the design side of things. The Altima looks fierce, exciting, elegant, and fun with sharp lines in the front fascia and smooth curves rippling through the sides. The Fusion is another story. The sides are bland, the grille is dated, and the hood doesn’t fit with the rest of the aesthetic. If looks are enough to get you on the side of the Altima, then you should check out our Altima inventory at McNeill Nissan by clicking the link below. Is the Altima or the Fusion the better sedan?

The most staggering difference between these two vehicles outside of perhaps their design choices is the fuel efficiency. The Altima is just much more fuel efficient, and at those levels it still manages to provide more horsepower and more torque.

The Altima achieves this efficiency through the use of a continuously variable transmission or CVT. CVTs are a futuristic technology that allows the transmission to always apply the best gear ratio to any situation without changing gears. It’s not perfect for every vehicle yet, as heavy duty applications still rely on traditional automatic transmissions, but it does make for a better sedan, and Ford has not yet embraced this new technology.

If you were looking for performance, then you can find that in both models as they both offer V6 engines. If entertainment is more important to you, then you may be better off with the Altima, which provides a better sound system at the entry level, and at the top level grants you the power of a Bose sound system.
